    Great app but I wonder how can Layar be the first AR browser while Wikitude was available since 2008? Do I miss something here? Is it definitions?

    Pls explain. Tx.

    Good luck!

    @Yuri,

    We are an enabler.. We enable other contentparties to create AR experiences. Every contentpartner creates there own layer in our application. Every layer is the equivalent of a webpage on the web.. Hence making us a browser.. ;-)

    I just looked in android market, but there is no layar application to be found.
    I am living in the netherlands with a t-mobile G1 phone.

    But it looks nice guys!

    Saw this via a friend’s twitter feed; this is pretty cool. Definitely the right kind of context for this type of application.

    Very cool stuff! I guess you’ll be developing an iPhone version soon? If not, then I need to get an Android!

    Looks good. You guys hiring in the US? :)

    Well made, but not a chance that you can make this a big app.

    Because of 2 simple reasons…
    a) you have no significant # of users yet
    b) you won’t have users cause you hardly got interesting ‘layers’. I would like ALL cash machines, not just the ones from ING.

    You can bet there will be more similar apps released in the future where you can add your locations for free (like Google Maps).
    Like someone else pointed out…Wikitude proves this point.

    This thing just got a really bad commercial model.

    @Goodie

    Actually the ING layer shows ALL ATM’s ;-)

    So what kind of layers would you like to see?

  • By woodear on June 17th 2009 at 1:19 pm

    I love it!

    1 wish:
    Could you please also add the google translation in the layar? I lost myself in Dutch signage system. I wish this layer could help translate the Dutch word captured by the phone into English words.([image] >OCR> [text] >google translate> [English])

    Many thanks!

    Raimo and team – congrats on this super cool app. You guys are always thinking ahead; this proves it. The potential is endless. The combination of location + context + visuals; very exciting…

    This looks very promissing. I found out about your app on the nu.nl site. I look forward to a Windows Mobile implementation for my Touch Pro.
